A tummy tuck can help address years of aging and stubborn belly fat in one treatment. At Younger Image Plastic Surgery Center, we offer this and other body surgery treatments to patients living in Washington, DC, Arlington, and surrounding communities in Maryland and Virginia from our offices in Vienna, Woodbridge, and Rockville.
What is a Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck, also called an abdominoplasty, is procedure that eliminates excess skin and tightens muscles in the abdomen to produce a slimmer, more contoured appearance. Tummy tucks can help patients achieve a flatter stomach if their abdominal area is especially resistant to diet and exercise. They can also help improve the appearance of the abdomen of those who have experienced significant weight loss. At Younger Image Plastic Surgery Center, patients have the choice between a traditional tummy tuck and a mini tummy tuck. A traditional tummy tuck addresses the entire stomach and may be ideal for patients looking for comprehensive contouring results. A mini tummy tuck only targets the area below the belly button, which may be ideal for patients looking for more subtle contouring results.
How Much Does a Tummy Tuck Cost in Washington, DC?
The cost of a tummy tuck can range from $3,000 to $5,000+. The total cost will vary depending on the extent of treatment necessary to deliver your desired results. During your consultation, we will evaluate your cosmetic goals to develop a personalized treatment plan. At this time, we will be able to provide the full cost of your treatment. To schedule any treatment, we ask for a $1,000 deposit that is nonrefundable. Two weeks before surgery, the patient will have a pre-op appointment where his or her full balance is due to be paid in full.
We offer flexible financing options, including Alphaeon® and CareCredit® to ensure that each patient has access to the treatment that they need. Alphaeon® and CareCredit® pay us in full and the patient pays the financing company a monthly fee. We also accept cash, checks, and major credit cards for your convenience.
What is the Tummy Tuck Procedure Like?
For a tummy tuck procedure, we typically make an incision along the pubic line so that it remains well-hidden by swim suits and other clothing. We may also make an incision at the belly button. Through these incisions, we will remove excess skin and tighten the abdominal muscles. Then, some of the remaining skin will be fastened to the abdominal muscles, which further improves the contour of the abdomen. This technique also reduces recovery time, swelling, and pain. We may also incorporate liposuction if the patient would like to eliminate fat in addition to their tummy tuck procedure.
What is a Drainless Tummy Tuck?
After traditional tummy tuck procedures, a drain will be attached to the treatment area to allow blood and other fluids to drain from the body. At Younger Image Plastic Surgery Center, we offer a drainless tummy tuck procedure. We accomplish this by lifting and attaching the skin to the abdominal muscle instead of cutting and removing it. This produces the desired abdominal contours while minimizing the surgery involved. As a result, there is less swelling and pain, and no need to have a drain following the procedure.
What is Recovery like Following a Tummy Tuck?
Your recovery following your tummy tuck will depend on the extent of your treatment. However, most patients are generally able to return to work and other normal activities within two weeks. You may experience mild swelling, bruising or discomfort, but any pain can be managed with oral medications. We recommend that patients stay active with light activities, such as walking, to accelerate the recovery process. Heavy lifting and other strenuous activities will have to be avoided for at least a month after the procedure.
What Kind of Results Can I Expect from a Tummy Tuck?
After your tummy tuck procedure, you will notice results immediately. These results will improve as any swelling subsides and the body recovers from treatment. The results from a tummy tuck can be long-lasting since excess skin and fat is permanently removed. However, future weight gain can detract from your results. We encourage patients to maintain healthy diet, exercise, and lifestyle habits to make their results last as long as possible.
