Gynecomastia Surgery (Male Breast Reduction) in Washington, DC

Gynecomastia is a condition that can cause both physical and emotional discomfort among men. At Younger Image Plastic Surgery Center, we offer gynecomastia surgery to help our male patients achieve a more masculine figure and restore their confidence. This and other plastic surgery treatments are available to our patients living in Washington, DC, Arlington, and surrounding areas of Maryland and Virginia from our offices in Vienna, Woodbridge, and Rockville.

What is Gynecomastia Surgery?

Gynecomastia surgery is a technique used to address gynecomastia, which is when men develop breast tissue that is enlarged or excessive. This can cause the appearance of “man boobs,” or a soft, rounded appearance in the chest. Although the condition is not harmful, many of those affected become self-conscious about their appearance. Fortunately, we specialize in numerous techniques that allow us to address gynecomastia and help our patients achieve a sculpted, masculine appearance.

How Much Does Gynecomastia Surgery Cost in Washington, DC?

The cost of gynecomastia surgery will vary depending on the techniques used and the extent of treatment necessary to deliver your desired results. During your consultation, we will evaluate your cosmetic goals to develop a personalized treatment plan. At this time, we will be able to provide the full cost of your treatment. To schedule any treatment, we ask for a $1,000 deposit that is nonrefundable. Two weeks before surgery, the patient will have a pre-op appointment where the full balance is due to be paid in full.

We offer flexible financing options, including Alphaeon® and CareCredit® to ensure that each patient has access to the treatment that they need. Alphaeon® and CareCredit® pay us in full and the patient pays the financing company a monthly fee. We also accept cash, checks, and major credit cards for your convenience.

What is the Gynecomastia Surgery Procedure Like?

The gynecomastia surgery procedure will largely depend on the patient’s unique needs. If the gynecomastia is mostly caused by fatty tissue, liposuction can be enough to produce the desired results. If this is this case, small incisions are typically made on the outside of the chest, along the natural fold underneath. For patients that are experiencing enlarged breasts, a more traditional surgical approach may be necessary. In this situation, we will have to eliminate excess skin, breast tissue, and fat in the chest to produce the desired results. Although similar incisions may be used for this approach, their size may be larger depending on the patient’s cosmetic goals.

What is Recovery like Following Gynecomastia Surgery?

After your gynecomastia surgery, you can expect some soreness and swelling that can last up to a few weeks. Most discomfort will fade within a couple of days, and any remaining soreness can be effectively managed with oral medications. During the first week or two after surgery, patients may have to take time off of work and other activities to ensure a proper recovery. Additionally, we recommend avoiding exercise and other strenuous activities for at least a month following treatment.

Are the Results from Gynecomastia Surgery Permanent?

Gynecomastia surgery can help produce long-lasting results that create a slimmer and more masculine appearance. However, future weight gain can detract from your results. We encourage patients to maintain healthy diet, exercise, and lifestyle habits to make their results last as long as possible.
