Dr. Yousefi offers tummy tuck surgery for patients in the Washington, DC, Vienna, Arlington and surrounding areas of Northern Virginia.
Abdominoplasty, or tummy tuck, is used to create a more proportionate and desirable abdominal appearance. For many, their abdominal area simply no longer responds to diet and exercise. With abdominoplasty, we can provide a firmer, flatter stomach for such patients. An abdominoplasty can also offer dramatic improvement to those who have recently had a massive weight loss.
Am I a Good Candidate for Tummy Tuck Surgery?
The best candidate for a tummy tuck is a woman of close to normal body weight whose lower abdominal skin and muscle has been stretched by childbirth. Usually there is an extra fat layer in this area, a loose muscle, a loose skin, and stretch marks. All of these can be corrected and a flatter abdomen can be obtained at the expense of a long scar. In order to decrease the complications after any surgery, especially for those who smoke and have lots of medical problems, Dr. Yousefi will obtain a medical clearance to see if you are a candidate for the surgery.
There are many advantages to tummy tuck surgery with Dr. Yousefi in the Washington, DC area. Many of our patients choose tummy tuck surgery for the following reasons:
How is a Tummy Tuck Performed?
There are really three components to the abdominal problem: skin, subcutaneous fatty tissue (beneath the skin), and the abdominal muscles with their associated fascia linings. Abdominoplasty incisions vary, depending on individual circumstances. The most common location for an incision is made across the lowest portion of the abdomen so it is easily hidden by clothing.
Once the incision is made, excess skin and fatty tissue are removed, muscles are tightened, and the procedure is complete. For those who have bulges on the sides of the abdomen, flanks, upper abdomen, love handles, or even above buttocks, Dr. Yousefi includes liposuction either with the abdominoplasty or at a separate time. The fat is removed from your abdomen can be injected into the buttocks or other areas that are needed at this time.
What Can I Expect After a Tummy Tuck?
After abdominoplasty, it is recommended to move around and not to stay in bed all the times. Pain is very well tolerated with pain medications and the advent of new pain pumps (On-Q® PainBuster®). For those of you who are scared of pain, Dr. Yousefi offers a pain pump (On-Q® PainBuster®) by which a numbing solutions, not a narcotic, is delivered to the incision. This is done automatically and you don’t have to press a button and since it is not a narcotic, you don’t have to worry about getting addicted to a pain medication. Tummy tuck typically requires 10 days before the patient may return to desk work. However, our team uses advanced techniques to reduce recovery time and discomfort to an absolute minimum.
